ABOUT THE RACE
The race starts at the Hinckley Road Bridge.
Go ten miles north from Mora on State Highway 65, then east on
County Highway 3, 2-1/2 miles to the Snake River. Instead of driving
to the starting area, you may wish to park at the finish line
at the Kanabec History Center in Mora (six blocks west on Forest
Avenue from Union Street, the main street in town). Buses and
canoe trailers will transport you and your canoe to the starting
point. Please come early if you wish to use this service. First
buses will leave at 7:00 a.m. and last buses at 8:30 a.m. RACE

At 9:30 a.m., canoes and kayaks will be started six at a time
at one-minute intervals. The course is about 25 kilometers long.
Mean gradient throughout the course is 5 feet per mile. Rapids
are generally all Class I. Winning time is usually about two hours,
and the average finishing time is about three hours. Legal flotation
devices for each paddler are required and you will not be permitted
to start the race without them. You must also have flotation devices
and paddles in your possession when you cross the finish line.
Minnesota law requires current registration.
MORE INFORMATION
The Club has a limited number of aluminum canoes for rental. The
price is $40.00, which includes paddles and life vests. These
canoes can be picked up at the start area just before the race
and dropped off at the finish line, so you don’t need to transport

water level information or any other questions about the race
that you may have. Water levels on the Snake River react quickly
to rainfall and can rise or fall considerably within short time
intervals.
If you have a question about the size of your canoe and the class
you should be entered in, measure your canoe and decide the class
before you enter. If you are still in doubt, call one of the individuals
